A look back at 2007!


The best place to look at how 2007 shaped up is the 2007 Outlook. How did LightSideStudios Stack up this year? Did the outlook and goals happen or was I off just a bit? Let's look back at the year that was 2007.


1. The Screenplay "13'

This was the year for screenplay writing! I did write this script and finished the rough draft in about two months. This was the first time I ever put the tips and tricks I learned in L.A. back in '06. Every tool I use worked great.
Overall things have went pretty good with "13". The script still needs a lot of work but I hope someday it will be ready to shoot. More on this and my feature film hopes tomorrow in the Outlook.




2. Project X Script

Well, this year I didn't do much writing on this script. I have been trying to figure out a great ending for this story and I am still a bit stuck. 2008 I will be working hard on this story. Once again you will see why in the 2008 Outlook!


3. Writing Time

My writing was pretty good early in the spring and into the summer, but fell off in late summer and into the fall. This is a BIG area that MUST get a better fix for '08. I have high hopes for a LOT of writing in '08 so a plan time needs to be set. As always this is a work in progress.


4. Short Films

Writing was a big part of '07 and short movies took a back burner. This will be another area I plan to work on in '08. Watch the Outlook for more on this too!


5. L.A. AGAIN!!

Once again I took the long flight to the City of Angles for another week of intense film and screenwriting study. I learned more this year on camera work and how to shoot a scene. I learned how to create a better scenes on the page and open my characters up more. (This is what was missing from the "13" story. Characters where a bit stiff. But I'm fixing that!)





I have already began using what I have learned from my trip. Heck, the all day session on cameras and lenses was use the next at the beach with still photography. Just look at those awesome pics!!!






So, what else did 2007 bring? A lot of really wonderful things!!

2007 brought two projects for the local Big Brothers, Big Sisters here in town. Both videos where big hits and are helping do big things for LSS. (More on this in the Outlook for '08!)


Photoshop CS2

I began to learn how to use Photoshop this year and hope to get back into it later in '08!


So many forms so little time!

2007 was the year I can say I learned Excel! I worked on just about every form you can think of for a movie production. The biggest of the forms was the budget, all 50 or so pages! I still have many forms to make but I would say I am a little more than half way there. Hey, I got to have to make a movie someday. haha






2007 in a nut shell...

Overall this has been another GREAT year for LightSideStudios. I didn't get everything I want to done but look over the year I have worked hard and created a LOT. Next year could and (should) be the hardest year of my life for LightSideStudios. But more on that tomorrow!


So, what is the outlook for '08? There are a few things in the works that if happen could be HUGE! I will be releving a lot of this tomorrow.

We'll look into the cystal ball and see what might be around the corner for 2008. I am VERY excited at the possiblities that could be waiting in 2008!
